Knowing that we’ve worked on something is not the same as understanding what we did at the time, and what notes and research were involved.
I’m interested in learning how context survives interruptions, by persisting a record of the changes we make across a project.
Under Cloud allows us to skim backwards through changes from the Narrative, and from within a specific asset. But when we’ve been interrupted, our situational awareness isn’t always reliable.
With work tranches, it’s possible to track our interactions with assets belonging to a specific project.
We’re given the option to describe what we’re attempting to do (our intention), and then — once the work tranche is complete — describe what we’ve accomplished.
So, while the visual knowledge graphs allow us to capture the context connecting notes to research, work tranches capture evidence of what we did at a specific moment in time, including those knowledge graphs.
Because these tranches belong to the project, anyone assigned to that same project has access, allowing them to see what we did to which assets, when, and for what reason.
Let’s imagine we’re taking a break, or moving on from the project. Under Cloud allows us to create a handover note, where we assign work tranches and add a descriptive note. Once created, the note is an asset that we’re free to do with as we would any other asset.
Afterwards, having assigned a colleague to the project and sharing the handover note with them, the note becomes an essential guide, easing them into the project with everything at hand.
